The Principal of ISCS has responsibility for the leadership of the School, the strategic direction linked to the aims of the school and governors as well as those of the National agenda and UAE Vision 2021.

The governance structure falls into two parts; Board of Trustees which includes the CEO, DCEO members from BEAM and others invited by the Chairman, and the School Board of Governors who represent all stakeholders including parents, community and staff.

Parents and community members are encouraged to be members of the School Governing Body. In their capacity, they can help shape the School’s future direction and ensure a strong connection and sense of community between the School’s leadership and parents.

Tim Hughes (Chair of Governors)

...I am currently leading on education across 5 schools (10,000 students) in Dubai and Sharjah, UAE, covering the British and American curriculum.

Prior to that I was the Principal of Al Yasmina Academy in Abu Dhabi and have been a senior leader in education for over 11 years; having spent time as an Assistant, Vice and Co-principal. My first degree is in Chemistry and PhD is in Chemical Physics. My professional qualifications include that of Chartered Scientist, Chartered Chemist and Chartered Physicist. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Member of the Institute of Physics. I gained a distinction in my PGCE and hold the NPQH: National Professional Qualification for Headship.

I am passionate about educational research and extremely proud to have led the only school in Abu Dhabi to have worked with Professor John Hattie and his international research group!

My educational philosophy:
Nothing is more important than your education and the role staff and parents play in a child’s learning is pivotal. However learning should not be solely about the grades, but about all those unforgettable experiences we have and the wider skills that are acquired to help us become upstanding citizens.

It is our shared moral duty to ensure no child is left behind! Every child is a precious gift and each one has a unique contribution to make to the world. It is our role to help them make it. Unlocking the potential in every child is not always easy, but we must rise to this challenge to give all our young people the chances in life they need and deserve.

Teaching is my passion. I believe it is just as important to teach children moral values as kindness, integrity, honesty and accountability as well as English, Maths and Science. I enjoy baking and involving the students in this process as there is some much to be learnt from the simple things in life. Education is the power to think clearly, the power to act well in the world’s work, and the power to appreciate life.

This school's environment and community are a clear representation of that, I only wish to further assist my wonderful team and students in reaching their full potential.
