Career guidance: Helping your child to a brighter future

Career guidance at ISCS Muwaileh

The International School of Creative Science -  Muwaileh is one of the best British schools in Sharjah because our central aim is to provide our students with sturdy morals and critical thinking skills, developing successful and productive members of society. In order to do so, we understand that our students need careful guidance when deciding upon a career path.

Career counseling is vital for a student and can be helpful to them at any age. Career advice is particularly important when a student reaches major milestones, such as after 10th grade, after 12th grade, and after graduation. Counseling not only helps a student decide what career option to choose, but also what subjects to take and what course combinations would be best suited to his/her career choice.

Every student has their own strengths and weaknesses, thus guidance counselors choose to give standardized aptitude and personality tests that assess the student’s skills and interests. This evaluation is used in conjunction with counselor’s insight into the job market to access which career paths are suitable for a particular child.

Because potential employers now require multi-skilled employees, we encourage our students to delve into fields outside of their main subjects. For example, a science student may dabble in arts, photography, psychology, programming, or advanced mathematics. Hence, our counselors work to help our students decide what skills they would be best suited for and how to achieve them.

At the best British curriculum school in Sharjah, guidance counselors also help students make informed career choices by not only helping the student identify the courses and educational options he/she will need for their chosen career, but also by assessing the pros and cons of the career i.e. how flexible it is in changing job markets, what level of education it requires, what risks it poses in terms of job security and job satisfaction.

As one of the best British schools in Sharjah, we realise that there have been massive changes in the world of employment. We know that there is a rise in the need for multi-faceted individuals who can compete in a hyper-competitive job market. Throughout our counselling, we advise participation in career choices that are experiencing positive trends and evidence a strong probability for continued growth. We encourage multi-tasking abilities and self-discipline required for a rapidly changing market. We also encourage specialized skills in areas such as IT, construction and finance in conjunction with soft skills that will allow children to be confident, versatile and continually innovative.
